En este aspecto caben destacar dos bajas destacadas, una por bando como serían Jabari Parker en el conjunto de USA y Joel Embiid, nacido en Camerún, en el mundial. También estaría, sin lesión de por medio, el jugador de los Lakers Julius Randle, lesionado de gravedad en su debut en la NBA.
