La cronoescalada desde la capital de la Costa Azul hasta la Col D’Eze no dejó grandes sorpresas y es que a pesar de partir con 36″ de desventaja, Richie Porte era el claro favorito para el triunfo final como así ha sido. El de Sky fue líder provisional desde el primer punto cronometrado situado en el kilómetro cinco de la etapa.
Porte fue el ganador claro pero donde hubo más intriga fue en sus acompañantes en el podio final y es que Michal Kwiatkowski, Simon Spilak y Alberto Rui Costa empataron a tiempo en la segunda, tercera y cuarta plaza quedándose el portugués fuera de los puestos de honor por centésimas tras una semana compitiendo.
Jon Izagirre fue el mejor español de la etapa quedando octava mientras su hermano Gorka fue décimo y finalmente noveno en la general final. Rafa Valls alargó su gran inicio de temporada siendo octavo en la general.
